FASHION x PHILANTHROPY:
MICHAEL KORS CELEBRATES TIMELESS DESIGN & ICONIC STYLE IN PALM BEACH TO SUPPORT LOCAL HISTORY
Legendary designer Michael Kors and CCB co-founder Lizzi Bickford Meadow celebrated timeless design and iconic style in Palm Beach and beyond to support of Historical Society of Palm Beach County. The invitation-only event was hosted in the picturesque courtyard of Carriage House and featured an in-depth presentation of the designer’s highly anticipated SS/24 collection. The special occasion also feted the Historical Society’s grand exhibition, “Endless Summer: Palm Beach Resort Wear,” which includes two pieces from Michael Kors. A portion of purchases from the event benefited the Historical Society.
Shortly after arrival -and after a bit of mixing and mingling – guests took their seats and were welcomed by Lizzi who shared a brief history of the event’s historical location. Carriage House, an exclusive members club situated in two landmarked buildings, were originally designed by late famed architects Addison Mizner and Maurice Fazio. Known best for their signature styles that have defined the look and feel of Palm Beach for more than a century, the buildings are an important part of the island’s heritage of great design and were commissioned by E.F. Hutton and his wife, Marjorie Merriweather Post. The space was reimagined and meticulously restored by Carriage House founders Michael and Paula Bickford who opened the Club in 2022.
The historic venue served as the perfect backdrop for this special event and the Society’s current exhibition which examines why and how Palm Beach has attracted notable residents and influenced the most fashionable wintertime guests for decades. Society President and CEO Jeremy Johnson said, “We are so very grateful to Michael Kors and Lizzi Bickford Meadow for their philanthropic spirit and ongoing support of our mission and exhibition.”
After the warm welcome, guests enjoyed the opportunity to take a close look at the runway collection, during which the designer shared moments of personal storytelling, describing the inspiration behind each look. Tastemakers including Valerie Cooper, Cameron Silver, Kamie Lightburn, Sarah Wetenhall, Sonja Stevens, Elizabeth Munder, Logan Horne, Cat O’Neal, Grace Walker, Harrison Morgan, Lora Drasner, Cori Seaberg, SueJin Seth, Guy Clark, Roxann Taylor, Annie Falk and many more marveled at gowns in layers of silk chiffon, lace shift dresses with flirty hemlines, short-shorts in an array of sunset-hued colors, and sequined skirts that take you from the shores of Palm Beach to Positano with ease. A favorite among many was a suede lavender trench coat, “decidedly not intended for the rain” remarked Mr. Kors, but perfectly suited for cooler evenings in warmer climates and the summer season ahead.
After the presentation, guests enjoyed passed lunch-by-the-bite and champagne while exploring the collection in an alfresco setting. Mr. Kors joined the VIP shoppers as they selected must-have items to take home while also supporting this important organization.
